Ellen Wood holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) from the University of Queensland. She obtained her Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the College of Law and was admitted as a solicitor to the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2018.

Prior to working in criminal defence, Ellen has worked in the commercial and corporate law space, before commencing an associateship with a Judge of the District Court of Queensland. She has studied at the University of Vienna and the University of Zurich, acted as a delegate to the United Nations, held various teaching positions at the University of Queensland and has published research in relation to access to justice and courtroom procedure.

Ellen has chosen to practice exclusively within the criminal, domestic violence and traffic law space and appears in all courts throughout Queensland.  She is drawn to helping people through difficult times and appreciates how daunting the court process is for her clients.  Ellen is known for her compassionate nature and measured and understanding approach to legal matters.  She is a passionate advocate for her clients and routinely appears before the Magistrates, District and Supreme Courts.

Outside of the office, Ellen gives back to the community through volunteer work, is an avid hiker, wine and food enthusiast and devoted dog-Mum to her dog Frank.
